KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a robbery victim while another suspect was lynched by angry shopkeepers in Surjani Town on Monday night, according to police.
They added that two armed men stormed a shop in Taiser Town and looted cash and other valuables. As they were fleeing, the shopkeeper fired at them with his licensed pistol and also raised hue and cry catching the attention of other traders of the bazaar, said police officer Mohammed Hanif.
One suspect suffered bullet wounds while an angry mob got hold of the other.
They subjected him to severe beating before arrival of the police. Both wounded suspects were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The deceased were identified as Khoob Nawaz, 22, and Mohammed Yusuf, 24.
West SSP Suhai Aziz said that reportedly, both deceased suspects were recently released from jail.
Three labourers die in SITE wall collapse
Three persons died and another was injured when a wall of a warehouse collapsed and fell on them in the SITE area on Monday evening, police said.
They added that the labourers were building a water tank inside the warehouse in the industrial area when its wall collapsed and fell on them. They were buried under the debris and by the time it was removed by rescuers, three persons had already died while the fourth one was recovered in injured condition.
The dead and injured were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.
The dead were identified as Zubair Mohammad, 25, Khalid Mehmood, 34, and Mohammad Amir, 28. The injured labourer was identified as Fazal Nawaz, 40. A Shershah police officer said the police would register a case if relatives of the deceased pursued it legally.
