ISLAMABAD: Officials investigating the murder of a German man suspect that the motive behind the crime was either enmity or personal issue.

Police officers told Dawn that earlier it was suspected that he was murdered during a robbery attempt, however, examination of the crime scene and evaluation of circumstances suggested that the motive was either enmity or personal issue.

The victim Noel Mathias Do Rego was shot dead near his residence in G-10/4 on Tuesday by two persons. Born in Portugal and an IT expert by profession, he had migrated to Germany and had gotten married to a Pakistani 12 years ago.

A few months ago he had resigned from the company where he worked and was planning to move back to Germany, police said, adding, in this regard he came to Islamabad two months ago.

The investigators rounded up some suspects after they were spotted in geo-fencing of the area. CCTV footage from the Safe City Project, was also examined to get clues about the attackers.
