KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued notice to the prosecutor general Sindh on an appeal of a militant of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) challenging the death sentence handed down by the trial court in the murder of a lawyer.
Ishaq alias Bobby through his lawyer filed an appeal against the conviction order of an antiterrorism court and after a preliminary hearing, a two-judge SHC bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh issued notice to prosecutor general for arguments.
Last month, an ATC had sentenced Ishaq and his accomplice Asim alias Capri to death after holding them guilty of killing Syed Ameer Haider Shah Advocate on sectarian grounds on the main University Road near Hasan Square in 2015.
