SAHIWAL: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) public rally scheduled for Jan 17, will now be held here on 27th. This was announced at a PML-N divisional meeting chaired by the party’s Punjab senior vice president Malik Nadeen Kamran, held at his residence.

The PDM central leadership, at a meeting held at Jati Umra last Friday, had decided the opposition alliance would hold a power show here on Jan 17th.

As per a source privy to the meeting, Mr Kamran said the PDM rally would be addressed by all the main leaders of the alliance, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

PPP and JUI-F district presidents Zaki Chaudhry and Ziaul Haq told Dawn the parties workers were ready to welcome their leaders to a “historic” show.

WOMAN DIES: A woman died and her son was critically injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car near 114/9-L village on Sahiwal-Arifwala road on Tuesday.

According to Kameer police, Naveed (26), along with his mother Shamim (40), was going to Kameer town when his bike was hit by a car coming from opposite direction.

Rescue 1122 staff said the woman died on the spot, while her injured son was shifted to the district headquarters hospital. The police said Shamim’s husband refused to take any legal action against the car driver, following which the body was handed over to the family.
