KARACHI, Oct 6: An extensive training and coaching camp of Pakistan cueists in preparation for the IBSF World Snooker will be conducted at Karachi Club from Oct 21, Camp Commandant Alamgir Anwar Shaikh announced on Thursday.
He said Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) starting the camp more then two weeks before the event in order to give the players perfect build-up for the championship so that they could attain peak form just before the global event.
World Snooker Championship will be held at Arabian Sea Country Club from Nov 7-20 in which 24-countries have confirmed their participation.
The eight-member Pakistan squad for the championship comprises former world and Asian champion Muhammad Yousuf, 2003 World championship finalist Saleh Muhammad, Naveen Perwani, Abu Saim, Latif Amir Bakhsh, Imran Shahzad, Khurram Hussain Agha and Shehram Changezi.
Alamgir, who was manager of Pakistan team which took part in the last world championship in the Netherlands said solo practice and warm up matches will be conducted during the training camp.
He said Yousuf Suleman will be assisting him in holding the training camp.
Alamgir said Pakistan has a strong contingent and their first target would be that all of them should qualify for the knock-out last 32 round.
He said besides training and coaching, he will be stressing in creating mental toughness and prepare them psychologically to achieve better results.—APP
