KASUR: A woman patient from Kasur died in a Rescue 1122 ambulance that remained halted for about half an hour due to protest on Ferozpur Road near Chungi Amar Sadhu on Friday.

Rescue 1122 was shifting 40-year-old Nazia Bibi from the Chunian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital to the Lahore General Hospital who suffered brain stroke (paralysis attack) on Friday. Near Chungi Amar Sadhu, the ambulance got stuck in the traffic that was jam due to the anti-government protest and in solidarity with the families of slain miners.

DEMO: Residents of Pakka Qila locality staged a protest demonstration against B-Division police for its highhandedness and abuse of power on Friday.

The protesters also blocked the road near Kot Peeran Chowk and chanted anti-police slogans.

According to Abdul Jabbar, B-Division police forced its entry into his house, ransacked the house, thrashed women and used abusive language with the inmates.

He said the police wanted to arrest his nephew for selling drugs but harassed other relatives. Later, on an assurance by SHO Waheed Arif that justice would be done with them, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
