NOWSHERA: Awami National Party general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Saturday that terrorism and unrest were on the rise in the country.

Addressing the party’s Nowshera Tehsil Council meeting here, he alleged that the fake prime minister had increased the grief of the Hazara community families by not visiting them immediately after the slaughter of poor miners in Mach.

He said the ANP as a component of the PDM was struggling to send the “bogus” prime minister home and have fresh elections in the country.

He said the ANP had rendered matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorists, losing hundreds of workers.

Mian Iftikhar said after failing to create rifts among the ranks of PDM, the government machinery was now calling the movement a failure.

The seasoned politician said all the opposition parties had agreed to participate in the Batkhela rally on January 11.

He said the country had witnessed massive inflation as prices of necessary items, electricity, petrol and gas were skyrocketing. He said people across the country were protesting against the “incompetent” government.

The ANP leader claimed that provincial autonomy was attained through the sincere efforts of party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan. He said the ANP would resist attempts to rollback the 18th Amendment.

He claimed that the ANP would win the by-election in PK-63 constituency here.

He said 15,000 Khudai Khidmatgars had participated in the Quit India Movement against the British enduring hardships and jails.

He said ANP workers would fully participate in the anniversaries of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan and the centenary celebrations of Anjuman-i-Islahul Afghana.

ANP general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, vice-presidents Shahi Khan Sherani, Sikandar Masood Abbas Khattak, culture secretary Khadim Hussain, finance secretary Mukhtiar Khan, Nowshera district president Jamal Khattak, general secretary Hamid Khan and PK-63 nominee Engr Mian Wajahat were also present on the occasion.
