LAHORE: A man was killed in a house fire early on Sunday in Model Town.

His neighbours reported to the Rescue 1122 after noticing smoke and flames emitting from the house at about 6am.

Rescue firefighters found the man unresponsive in the burning house and pulled him out. He had suffered severe burn injuries on different parts of his body and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he could not survive. The deceased was identified as Arshad, 55. The rescuers managed to extinguish the fire in an hour or so.

Police handed over the body to his heirs after completing legal formalities.

In another incident, valuables worth millions were gutted in a fire that erupted in a house near Haq Bahu Chowk in Mian Mir Colony.

Valuables worth millions, including furniture and the building, were severely damaged in the blaze. However, no injury was reported.
