KARACHI: The Foundation United Soccer Academy (FUSA) has been rendering a great service by offering fine playing facilities and ample encouragement to many young footballers in the heart of the city during the past six years.

Their recent activity — the FUSA Football Winter Camp — was held from Dec 21 — Jan 9 and had more than 80 young footballers in different age groups of under-8, under-10 and under-14 participating in it.

During the winter camp, the young footballers got their training on several aspects like physical training, game’s techniques etc from professional coaches including Sheeraz Ahmed and Zain P Khan who also emphasised on building a healthy environment which go a long way in creating better opportunities for athletes to excel in life.

The winter camp drew tremendous appreciation and response from the youngsters who benefitted a lot from, especially during the Covid-19 period where most sports activities and tournaments have remained suspended.

A project of Foundation Public School which is being run under the mentorship of Raza Minhas & Yasmeen Minhas, the FUSA camp also utilised the services of senior sports manager Murad Hussain and sports manager FPS Fahad Ali Agha in training the young footballers. All the Covid-19 protocols were strictly observed during the camp.

FUSA was established in 2014 and for the past seven years has produced many talented athletes The academy is FUSA took an essential initiative to form a grass root level soccer academy where good coaches are giving their input to groom the raw talent.

Such contributions and projects at the school level are essential in developing the all-round personality of a students and helps inculcate high values such as discipline, self control, competitiveness and sportsmanship.

Hopefully, other schools will also organize grass root training and learning projects like FUSA that will go a long way in building a healthy society.
