Police ‘harass’ PML-N ex-MNA through raid

LAHORE: Police raided the house of PML-N ex-MNA Sohail Shaukat Butt in Cantt area and allegedly harassed him and his family.

Mr Shaukat filed an application with the DIG Operations levelling allegations of manhandling him and harassing his family members by the police.

He alleged that over 200 police personnel made their forced entry into his residence at Bhaseen village near Batapur.

The heavily equipped policemen broke the main door and resorted to massive firing, terrifying him, his family members and the people living in the surroundings.

He alleged that the intruders damaged his cars and other vehicles which were parked inside his residence.

The ex-MNA said the women police were not accompanying when the personnel of the force barged into his house and they were armed with deadly weapons and attacked his house at a very odd time.

He alleged that DSP Rana Zahid, Batapur SHO Naeem Bajwa and sub-inspectors Zulfiqar and Liaquat were leading the force.

In his complaint, he demanded that the Lahore DIG Operations take action against the police who had committed congnizable offence for which they were liable to be proceeded against in accordance with law by registering a criminal case against them.

Reacting to the police raid, Khwaja Imran Nazir lamented that the heavily equipped police personnel raided the house of Sohail Shaukat Butt under the supervision of the Cantt SP. He said if action was not taken against the attackers, they would move the Lahore High Court.
