RAWALPINDI: Four members of a family were killed, while nine others were injured in a clash between two neighbours over a property dispute in Kallar Syedan on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Saddar Division, Ziaul Haq said the people involved in the clash were neighbours and close relatives.

The incident happened when two members of one of the parties tried to stop their relatives from constructing a wall on a piece of land over which they had a claim.

Later, the women members of the family also joined them in the quarrel.

While they were arguing with each other, the suspects pulled out their pistols and opened fire on their relatives killing two women and two men and injuring nine others. The dead were identified as Ansar Iqbal, 62, his younger brother Zareen Iqbal, 60, Raqeebun Nissa, 60 wife of Ansar Iqbal, and Safoora Begum, 55, wife of Mazhar Hussain.

SP Zia said police raids were underway to arrest the suspects. However, the father of the suspects had been detained by the police. Shortly after the incident, the police party led by SP Zia and SSP Operation, Shoaib Mehmood reached the scene and collected evidence.

Later, the dead bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a man was murdered allegedly by his brother-in-law over a family dispute in the Naseerabad area.

SHO Kamran Jamshed said that the accused was in police custody. However, the motive behind the murder was being ascertained. The body of the victim was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
