HARIPUR: Two people were killed in separate incidents here.

The Khalabat Township police said Saqib, 25, was shot at by his father, Mohammad Afzal, when the former was asleep in his bedroom on Thursday night.

They said the firing critically injured the youngster, who was shifted to the trauma centre but doctors declared him dead.

The police said they had arrested the gunman and were interrogating him to ascertain the reason for the murder.

Also, a man lost his life and his father suffered critical injuries in a road accident on Hazara Motorway.

According to Kotnajibullah police, the accident occurred after a sport utility vehicle crashed into another car throwing the latter into a ravine near Haro bridge.

Malik Fiaz and his son, Malik Saifullah, who rode the car, were critically injured in the incident. They were shifted to a local hospital, where Saifullah died of head injuries, while his father was referred to the PIMS hospital in Islamabad.

Witnesses told police that Raheel, 15, was critically injured as his clothes caught fire after he poured petrol into the furnace to make fire.

The rescue workers shifted him to the trauma centre, whose doctors referred him to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to serious condition.

Meanwhile, district police officer Kashif Zulfiqar has said the police and counter-terrorism department are making efforts for the arrest of eight people named in the killing of PTI provincial deputy general secretary Malik Tahir Iqbal and will make arrests soon.

He was addressing a news conference here on Thursday.
