RAWALPINDI: A man, his wife and son died in fire that broke out in their house located in Bahria Town Phase 8 on Sunday.

Police and rescue services said soon after the emergency fire call was received, firefighters and ambulances along with a police party reached the scene and recovered bodies of the deceased.

The incident came to light after someone from the neighbourhood noticed smoke coming out of the house and informed rescue services. Firefighters were able to control the fire and the deceased were shifted to the hospital for postmortem. According to the initial report, cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The deceased were identified as Omer Ahsan, his wife Anam and son Ashir. A police spokesman said the fire had probably been caused by gas leak or short circuit.
