LOWER DIR: An education officer identified as Gul Mohammad, a resident of Kotkay village, was found dead in Bandagai Talash here on Thursday morning, police said.

They said that someone informed them about the presence of a dead body near the main road. SHO Ayub Khan told this scribe that the deceased was shot dead with a pistol at point-blank range.

The deceased worked as an assistant sub-divisional education officer (ASDEO) in Munda tehsil.

He left behind nine children. The SHO said the killer[s] also took away the mobile phone of the deceased.

His car was also found parked near a filling station in Bandagai Talash.

A brother of the deceased, Tahir, told local police that the deceased after getting frequent telephone calls left the house at about 6pm on Wednesday. The family has no enmity with anyone.

The deceased was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in the presence of hundreds of local people and teachers.
