PESHAWAR: The Bacha Khan Health Foundation, a charity of Awami National Party, on Sunday set up a blood bank in Peshawar to provide free blood to the patients in need across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The blood bank was inaugurated by ANP provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, according to a statement issued here.
On the occasion, the foundation’s director Dr Shaukat Mir, provincial adviser Saqibullah Chamkani, Dr Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Malgari Doctoran president Dr Haider Ali were also present.
The organisers said free blood would be provided to patients, mainly to those suffering due to disasters or any other emergency situation.
Mr Babak appreciated the members of Malgari Doctoran for opening the free blood bank and said such social activities had been initiated by Bacha Khan 100 years ago by launching Anjuman Islah-i-Afaghina for social reforms and people’s wellbeing.
He said Bacha Khan had opened schools in the most neglected areas of the country to impart free education to children.
