QUETTA: Businessmen and industrialists of Balochistan have sought tax exemptions to revive the province’s economy badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

While discussing other problems being faced by the provincial business community, the meeting suggested that instead of increasing tax burden by imposing more levies and duties, the Federal Board of Revenue should focus on broadening the tax net.

The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) in its meeting on Monday evolved proposals for the upcoming federal budget.

Chairing the meeting, QCCI Senior Vice President Haji Abdullah Achakzai said the Covid-19 pandemic had badly hit the industry and trade causing billions of rupees losses to industrialists and businessmen due to closure of borders with Iran and Afghanistan.
