RAWALPINDI: A few worded statement of a five-year-old child helped the police arrest his mother allegedly involved in the murder of his father.

Farhanul Haq, who had been serving in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) as deputy director finance, was murdered in his house in Dhoke Kashmirian, Sadiqabad on Jan 21.

Mohammad Jameel, who had been leading the murder investigation, said the murder case was reported to the police by Sikandar Farooq, a close relative of the deceased.

The investigating officer said the deceased Farhanul Haq had married Ms Amina 17 years ago and had a son.

The son of the deceased was at home when his father was gunned down.

“The only son of the deceased told the police that a man who works in Dubai was the last person who came to their house,” the IO said adding that the boy’s statement was enough for the police to investigate his mother who confessed to having made a murder plan of her husband along with her paramour.

During initial investigation, the wife of the deceased revealed to the police that she had developed ‘illicit’ relations with the man some two-and-a-half years ago after which relations with her husband started soaring, the IO said.

Sikandar Farooq told the police that he along with his wife reached the Benazir Bhutto Hospital where he found Farhan lying dead as he had been shot in the head.

Her paramour managed to leave the country after the incident came to light. Police have been planning to bring the prime accused back from abroad.
