LAHORE: Ahmed Kamil in a nerve-wracking three-set battle defeated Imran Bhatti in the men’s singles final of the Sports Board Punjab Open Tennis Championship here at the PLTA, Bagh-i-Jinnah on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Ahmed exhibited better stamina and skills to complete a hard-earned 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 victory in the final that lasted 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, Haniya Minhas, earned double crown. First, she crushed Ashtafila Arif 6-0, 6-0 in a completely one-sided women’s singles final. Then she annexed the girls U-18 title comfortably prevailing over Natalia Zaman 6-0, 6-1 in the decider.
Hasheesh Kumar lifted the boys U-18 title outclassing Faizan Fayyaz 6-2, 6-2.

Boys U-18 doubles: Mahatir Mohammad/Ahtesham Arif bt Asad Zaman/ Hasheesh Kumar 8-5
U-12: Ameer Mazari bt Omer Jawad 8-5
U-10: Abdur Rehman bt Fajar Fayyaz 8-0.
