RAWALPINDI: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Vice Chairman Malik Abid Hussain on Sunday announced reopening of the women’s gym at Gulzar Fatima Park at Chandni Chowk which has remained closed for several years.
He made the announcement during a visit to Gulzar Fatima and Bilal parks on Sunday.
He directed the concerned officials to arrange the missing facilities so that women could enjoy recreational facilities.
He also directed them to repair damaged sitting facilities, defensive walls and grills.
He inspected various exercise machines inside the gym and asked the concerned staff to make all of them fully operational and advertise the gym membership.
“In order to provide exercising facilities for women, we will make all the closed machines operational,” he added.
He said the role of women was more important than that of men in building a healthy society; therefore, there is a need for women to have the facilities of healthy activities in parks.
He appealed to women and children to play their role in making the PHA’s campaign of turning parks into green areas and plant trees in or around their homes in the upcoming spring tree-planting campaign.
“Our collective efforts can increase the number of trees to tackle environment pollution and build a healthy society,” he added.
