LAHORE: The health problems of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif (also the opposition leader in the National Assembly) took a turn for worse on Thursday morning in Kot Lakhpat jail, where he is incarcerated and was taken to hospital, where doctors performed a PET scan.

A cancer survivor for many years, Mr Sharif had complained about his poor health condition on Wednesday when he was taken to court for a hearing of his case.

On Thursday, he was kept in INMOL Cancer Hospital for three hours. His personal doctors also joined the medical board made under the court order to monitor the health of Mr Sharif. The test results are expected by Monday and the next course of action (whether to keep him in jail or shifted to hospital) would be determined afterward.

PML-N’s Rana Arshad briefed the media at the hospital about the PML-N president’s health and warned Prime Minister Imran Khan that he would be held responsible if any harm comes to his condition. “His health is not well but his spirits are high. The PML-N would not budge to this pressure.”
