LAHORE: The death of a minor housemaid at a residence in Iqbal Town some two weeks back took a turn on Thursday when police confirmed that she died of torture.

Police arrested the employer, Saira Bano, in connection with the murder of Misbah, 12.

A police official said the postmortem report of the deceased girl confirmed multiple bone fractures and deep wounds on various parts of her body that led to her death. He said that during interrogation the arrested woman told police that the girl was physically abused for not following the family’s instructions.

The police official said the employer’s sister-in-law also used to thrash her over petty matters and on the day of incident she was beaten with sticks.

He said the girl was the daughter of labourer Nasrullah, a resident of Sheikhupura.
