SUKKUR, Oct 10: Differences have cropped up between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Khushaal Pakistan Panel over election of the district naib nazim of Sukkur.

The MQM wanted to field its newly-elected labour councillor Zaheeruddin for the post, while Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, under a commitment made to Pir Sahab Pagara, was backing Abdullah Ghumro of the PML-F, who was elected unopposed from the union council Bagarji.

In this connection, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has reminded the MQM of its commitment with Pir Sahab Pagara. Yar Mohammad Ghumro had withdrew from contesting the top Sukkur slot from the Awam Dost Panel, on the directive of the PML-F chief after a commitment by Syed Nasir Shah that the naib nazim’s post of Sukkur would be given to the PML-F.

On the other hand, the Muttahida was of the view that, 74 Haq Parast councillors played a vital role in electing Syed Nasir Hussain Shah as the district nazim. Therefore, they were justified to claim the seat of naib nazim of the district.

The provincial president of PML-F, Syed Sadaruddin Rashdi, was in touch with the Muttahida leadership to field a joint candidate for the post.

BANK LOAN: Hundreds of government employees of various departments of Sukkur and Rohri have demanded of the government and the President, National Bank of Pakistan, to restore the scheme of advancing loan equivalent to 15 salaries to them.

The employees claimed that hundreds of the cases regarding 15 advance salaries as loan were pending in various branches of the NBP, but the facility had abruptly been suspended.

They have demanded of the federal government to restart the facility immediately.

INJURED: An old man received injuries while resisting armed robbers in Mohammad Hashim Odhano village, near Kandhra, on Sunday night. A group of armed thieves broke into the house of one Sahib Dino Odhano, and overpowered the inmates and tried to rob the households.
