Darkness in Gadani

Published February 7, 2021

THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Used and deprived’ (Jan 14). Despite the fact that the Hub power plant is one the most efficient power projects in Balochistan, and is supposed to supply electricity to the people of Hub, most of the residents are compelled to live in darkness, particularly, people living in and around Gadani.

I was shocked when some of my friends from Gadani shared how hard it is for them to study without electricity. They even bring their chargers with them to the college so that they may charge their cell-phones.

The Hub special economic zone is one of the major components of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but even then, the residents of the city are living in complete darkness and are deprived of the basic needs of life.
