LARKANA: A large number of academicians, teachers and students from various educational institutions visited the Science and Arts Exhibition on its concluding day, Thursday.

The three-day event was held at the Govt Girls Degree College, Larkana. It was organised by the departments of geography and Islamic studies.

The visitors appreciated the models of different phenomenon of science, presentations of geography and history of Islamic studies.

Speaking at the concluding session of the exhibition, Larkana region deputy director colleges Prof Imtiaz Ali Shah said that holding a science exhibition was a good step to train students in their subjects practically.

Students would get inspiration from that and their interest in practical learning would increase by seeing the models displayed in the exhibition, he added.

Sindh University Lark­ana campus pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Azhar Ali Shah said the organizers of the exhibition had done well to hold the event which indeed was a university-level show. It spoke of confidence and knowledge of students who had participated in its preparation, he added.

Knowledge Centre founder and director Prof Mukhtiar Samo said that such kind of co-curricular activities were essential to boost confidence of students and help them explore the new vistas of knowledge.

He said science education needed to be promoted so that the new generation could benefit from it and keep pace with the world. Science and arts exhibitions should be made part of syllabus at all levels in educational institutions so that students could learn through them, he said.

Prof Syed Asghar Ali Shah, president of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) Sukkur region, said students were bestowed with immense qualities which their teachers had discovered, polished, and given them chance to demonstrate.

College principal Prof Irshad Abbasi said the college always played its due role in practical teaching to students.

Prof Altaf Abro, principal of Government Degree College (Boys) Larkana, Prof Lal Bakhsh Kalhoro, Prof Dr Ahsan Danish, Prof Mubeen Langah and others also appreciated the exhibition.
