LAKKI MARWAT: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has launched an operation in Lakki city to curb electricity theft and fix power metres of domestic and commercial consumers to the poles outside their homes and premises.

“The operation has been started to improve power supply in the urban locality,” said Pesco Bannu circle superintending engineer Sharas Khan on Saturday. Pesco Lakki Marwat executive engineer Fida Mohammad Mehsud and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Sharas Khan visited several urban localities to check the field performance of local authorities against power stealers. He also issued instructions to the field staff with regard to implementing safety measures during duty.

Executive engineer Fida Mehsud said the technical staffers were engaged in installation of electricity metres of domestic and commercial consumers on power pylons. He said that the operation would prove helpful in stopping illegal use of electricity in parts of Lakki city.

MAN KILLED: A proclaimed offender killed a man over enmity in Shahbazkhel village of Darra Pezu town here on Saturday.

The area police said that Asghar Khan and his cousin Abdul Saboor were present in the street when Mishkatullah, a proclaimed offender, came and opened fire on them.

They said that Saboor died on the spot while Asghar escaped unhurt. The police registered the case and have started investigations.

CATTLE BANNED: The district administration banned the roaming of cattle in urban areas and bazaars in Bannu on Saturday and said that action would be taken against the owners. An official said that some residents had been letting their cattle free that roamed in the city and grazed on plants besides hindering smooth flow of traffic.

“The administration has spent millions of rupees on beautification of Bannu city by setting up greenbelts and carrying out plantation,” said an official. He said that the officials of municipal administration and Bannu Development Authority had observed that animals roaming without keepers were ruining the greenery and beauty of Bannu city and town area.
