SWABI: The provincial government has constituted a special inquiry committee to investigate the issue of non-cooperation by staff members, which was recently raised by Women University Swabi vice-chancellor Shahana Urooj Kazmi in a letter to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and chancellor of the university, sources in the varsity told this correspondent on Sunday.

“Is it right to treat someone from other province like this,” she had questioned while referring to the treatment she faced soon after assuming charge as VC of the university.

The university administration has so for terminated services of four employees for their failure to follow the rules.

Sources said National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and principal secretary to the governor had assured the varsity management to take steps for creating an environment conducive to imparting education the students.

They said CM’s special assistant on higher education Kamran Bangash had also conveyed to the VC that the government would continue to support the varsity management.

“A special committee has been constituted by the government to extend complete support to the VC of the university, as imparting quality education to girls is top priority of the government,” said an official source.

ARRESTED: Yousaf Ali, former district general secretary of the ruling party, has been arrested along with his bodyguard for display of two Kalashnikovs.

SHO Ajab Durrani told mediapersons that Mr Yousaf and his bodyguard Shahzad Khan had displayed Kalashnikovs in the district headquarters and the police arrested them. He said that licence of one of the Kalashnikovs was not clear.

However, Mr Yousaf said he was arrested because he left PTI and had spoken on foreign funding case. “I will continue to expose the wrong policies of the government,” he said.
