LAHORE, Oct 10: A number of the Punjab Civil Secretariat employees have appealed to the Pakistan Railway authorities to re-adjust the departure time of the Okara Passenger train from Lahore for the holy month of Ramazan.
In a statement on Monday, the employees said they daily come from Okara to perform their duties at Lahore. The railway authorities adjusted the departure time of the 224-down at 3.35pm for Ramazan.
“But the passenger train is stopped for half an hour or so to give way to the Karakorum Express which leaves Lahore station at 4pm for Karachi,” they said.
As a result, scores of employees could not reach home in time to have Iftar with their families.
The employees have appealed to the railway authorities to re-adjust the passenger train departure time either at 2.50pm or 3.10pm and end the stoppages for ‘crossings’ during the holy month.
