SHIKARPUR: A group of armed men broke into a house and shot dead the owner’s two visitors sleeping in the autaq (guest room) in Bakal Teghani village located in Garhi Tegho in the early hours of Tuesday, officials at the Naparkot police station said.

The deceased were identified as Allah Bux alias Danglo Teghani and Shamman Shar.

Residents of the village said that the house belonged to the village elder, Bakal Teghani, who hosted the guests and accommodated them in the autaq for an overnight stay.

They said some unknown assailants drove into the area and shot dead the two sleeping guests.

Sources in the village linked the incident with a long-running dispute between Bakal Teghani and his rival Khair Bux Teghani.

The police transported the bodies to the Khanpur Taluka Hospital for a post-mortem examination and then handed them over to the heirs.
