7 killed as trailer crashes into bus at Fatehjang

TAXILA: At least seven passengers on board a bus lost their lives while 17 others were injured as a speeding trailer crashed into a bus on Fatehjang-Khor road in the jurisdiction of Fatehjang police station on Thursday.

According to District Emergency Officer Dr Ishfaq Mian, an empty trailer while over taking another vehicle near Galli Jagir rammed into a Rawalpindi-bound passenger bus. Four persons died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.

Another 17 injured passengers were shifted to different hospitals of Fatehjang; six of them were shifted to Rawalpindi by Rescue 1122 due to their critical condition. Most of the deceased and injured are employees of public and private sector departments and were on their way to their work places.

Police, while quoting eyewitnesses and the injured said reckless driving by the trailer driver caused the accident which claimed seven precious lives.

The driver managed to escape. Fatehjang police registered a case and started further investigation.
