HARIPUR: A couple was critically injured when an LPG cylinder exploded in a house in Noor Colony here on Thursday.

Police said Naheed Mumtaz, 23, was busy cooking lunch when the gas cylinder exploded and her clothes caught fire. In a bid to rescue his wife, Khuram Shehzad attempted to put out fire, but the flames also engulfed his cloth.

The area people extinguished the fire and took the injured to the trauma centre from where they were referred to a hospital in Rawalpindi.

Police said the kitchen and a bedroom were damaged in the incident.
