Homework, a nightmare or a blessing?

This refers to the article “Homework, a nightmare or a blessing?” by Kulsoom Rahimtoola (YW, January 30). The article provided the message that homework shouldn’t be considered a nightmare as it helps students to get good grades and make their future better.

The writer expresses that homework also helps in revision of the work students have studied earlier in their classes. Moreover, it develops social skills as kids also prefer group studies, which engages them in discussions and forming opinions of their own.

I would like to thank YW for publishing such a useful article.

How to spot a true friend

This is with reference to the article “How to spot a true friend” by Syeda Dua Fatima (YW, January 16). I couldn’t hold myself back and felt that I had write about the article.

In the society we live in, many things turn out to be fake that really hurt deep inside. The root of friendship is trust, which makes it strong as well as delicate.

It is true that friends share their world with each other and they believe that the other person won’t use it negatively or against him/her, but if any of them turns out to be fake, it breaks the other person and he/she never regains trust on anyone again.

The cover story “How to spot a true friend”, by Syeda Dua Fatima provided an eye-opening message to those who blindly trust others.

This article gives advice and also tells who we should trust and consider our friend and who we should not. The writer nicely pointed out the differences between fake and true friends, and also it taught how to be a true friend to others and make them feel better in our company.

Stop global warming!

Global warming is caused by too much carbon dioxide and other air pollutants which are released in the atmosphere. The main culprit behind this pollution is harmful human activities, resulting in melting of glaciers, deforestation, etc. The damage has been done, but it’s still not late to save our beautiful planet and with little efforts that we can do.

I would advise my young friends to plant trees, don’t waste water and stop harming the environment by burning garbage on roadside. These are small efforts, but friends, they will help Mother Earth and us to breathe in a fresh air and clean environment for very long.
