DERA GHAZI KHAN: Eight people, including five passers-by, were killed and several others injured in a rivals’ clash on Saturday at village bazaar near Sheikhani Bridge in Shah Sadardin police precincts, some 40-km from here.

According to eyewitnesses, a youth wrapping himself in a chadar (shawl) and riding a motorbike came to the market along with his accomplice. Suddenly, he resorted to indiscriminate firing, killing seven people and injuring several others, including two women. Later, the assailant was also killed in retaliation.

A heavy police contingent reached the spot.

District Police Officer Umer Saeed told Dawn that the assailant was identified as Farid Leshari of the same area.

He said Farid had enmity with two villagers Haider and Manzoor and he killed them [first] and then opened indiscriminate fire on the people present in the bazaar. Later, the assailant was killed by his rivals, he said.
