PESHAWAR: The provincial government has asked the University of Peshawar (UoP) to utilise its assets, including Bara Gali campus, for raising funds for academic and other activities on the campus.

In this regard, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra held a meeting with UoP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Idrees at Bara Gali Summer Campus the other day, according to a press release.

“Bara Gali campus and other assets can be used to do away with the financial crisis at the varsity. The government will keep assisting the UoP as part of its strategy to promote education,” the minister said.

Kamran Bangash, CM’s special assistant on information and higher education, said the government wanted to promote quality education and enable the varsity to stay financially viable.

He urged the varsity administration to take financial advantage of the assets it possessed to get support for continuing the academic and research activities without any hindrance.

Prof Idrees accompanied by registrar Prof Yorid Ahsan Zia, provost Dr Fazal Sher, director administration Ishtiaqullah Khan and others inspected various sections of the campus.

On this occasion, he called for uplifting educational standards and creating healthy environment to produce professionals in accordance with the requirements of international market.

He said that Bara Gali, the UoP’s second campus, would be used for academic and research activities.
