MITHI: At least eight people were attacked and injured by a cheetah in Surnghwari and Bhotaro villages near Islamkot before the beast was shot dead on Monday.

Reports reaching here from the villages said that the cheetah, believed to have entered the Thar villages from the Indian state of Rajasthan, attacked and injured Dodo Bheel, Nehal, Halio, Daleep Kanji and several other people who were taken to different rural health units for treatment.

Relying on their narration, a number of villagers carried out a hunt for the beast and finally found and shot it dead. The wildlife department later sent a team of its officials to the specified site to collect the carcass of the beast.
