The colours in our eyes

This is with reference to the cover story, “The colours in our eyes” by Rizwana Naqvi (YW, February 13). I liked the article very much. It was full of information that I didn’t know before. I also came to know what makes the colour of our eyes different from others as my eye colour is hazel and everyone around me asks about it and I usually have no answer.

Now, I can explain this as I know the reason behind my particular colour of eyes. I appreciate all the contributors of YW for providing us with wonderful articles and stories that help us improve our knowledge.

A blessing can also be a curse!

This is regarding the article “A blessing can also be a curse” by Tanzila Asim Zafar (YW, February 13). It was a very well written article. I appreciate the writer for highlighting all the difficulties and misfortunes that are caused due to heavy rains.

Although rain is a blessing to the dry areas, in metropolitans like Karachi, Lahore and other cities, where the basic infrastructure is faulty, this blessing becomes a curse. For instance, last year, people had to face such an unfortunate situation in various cities of Pakistan when there was heavy rainfall. It was one of the most horrifying rains in Karachi’s history. Properties were destroyed and many people were killed. Therefore, we should remember that the blessing to us could be a curse to anyone less privileged and be ready to help them.

Plastic bottle pencil box

This is regarding the section Wonder crafts, “Plastic bottle pencil box” by Asif Ali (YW, February 6). I really appreciate the contributor for showing us such an easy way to make a pencil box from used plastic bottle.

Nowadays, everything is getting costly. Thus making something useful from old or useless items saves money and brings out our creativity in a beautiful way.

I am an old reader of this magazine and I like this section very much. I hope YW will keep giving us the best of everything in the future as well.

Cook-it -yourself!

This is regarding the section Cook it yourself by Aamnah Arshad (YW, February 6). First, I would like to appreciate all those youngsters and adults who cook themselves. Secondly, cooking should not be gender specific, whether a boy or a girl, one should know how to cook.

I am a keen reader of YW, I like this section very much.
