CHARSADDA: The police on Sunday arrested a man for slaughtering an elderly caretaker of the Baba Sahib Shrine and attempting to torch his body on Saturday night.

Prang police station officials said caretaker Dost Mohammad, 65, belonged to Mayar area of Mardan.

Soon after the incident, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Mohammad Noor Khan, a resident of Clifton, Karachi, who is presently living in Dargai, Malakand. He confessed to the crime. The police registered the case and started further investigations.

Also, a transgender person was shot and injured in Shabqadar area on Sunday.

The police said three transgender persons were going in a car when they were intercepted by two men who forced them to sit in their own car. On refusal, the men opened fire on a transgender individual, injuring him seriously.

The injured was shifted to the Shabqadar Hospital, wherefrom doctors referred him to a Peshawar hospital in precarious condition.

The Battagram police registered a case against Rahim Gul and his unidentified accomplices.
