LAHORE: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said the ruling party is talking about the use of technology for the Senate polls out of desperation, but it must remember that the “RTS and Daska-fog technologies” will not work anymore.

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision on the presidential reference that polls for the upper house of parliament will be held through secret ballot, Maryam said: “It has once again proved that the Constitution is far above the tricks of the vote thieves, malicious references and conspiratorial ordinances.”

“Out of desperation they (PTI leaders) are now talking of use of technology (in the Senate polls), but remember that the [Result Transmission System] and Daska-fog technologies will not work anymore. Why are you afraid of the power of the ballot?” she questioned in a tweet on Monday.

In another tweet, she expressed sympathy with Prime Minister Imran Khan. “How helpless is this man who got power on the condition of staying on one page, and if he does not remain on the same page, he will face humiliation. Now after closing the door on political persons for three years this man is pleading them (for the Senate vote),” she said.

Meanwhile, PML-N Punjab Information Secretary Azma Bokhari said President Arif Alvi should resign after the apex court’s decision on his reference.

“Morally, he should not cling to his post after the apex court’s verdict,” she said and added that the government needed RTS-like technology (for the Senate polls).
