ISLAMABAD: A Saudi national was arrested after his vehicle hit a motorcyclist, killing him on the spot on Tuesday.

The motorcyclist was identified as Mohammad Irfan. The 21-year-old suspect was booked by Shalimar police on charges of PPC 322, 279 and 427. According to the police, Section 322 is a non-bailable offence.

The suspect was driving a white sport utility vehicle (SUV) and hit the motorcyclist from behind on Margalla Road near Shaheen Chowk in E-11.

His body was later shifted to the hospital for legal procedure.

A police officer told Dawn on condition of anonymity that a report submitted by Traffic Police over the incident revealed that the suspect while speeding overtook another vehicle and hit the motorcyclist.

He will be produced in the court on Wednesday (today) to seek remand for interrogation, the officer added.

Another police officer said the suspect did not have a valid licence (Pakistani or international) to drive a vehicle, however, he produced two driving licences issued by the Saudi and American authorities.
