BAJAUR: The workers of Pakistan Peoples Party here on Thursday held a rally to celebrate victory of Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate elections and said that government lost confidence of its own MNAs.

The activists associated with other opposition parties also attended the rally held outside Bajaur Press Club. They said that it was a victory of all opposition parties. They jubilant participants of the rally said that the victory of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani against federal minister for finance proved that the government not only lost the confidence of nation but also its own MNAs.

They said that the victory of Yousuf Raza Gilani was a massage to the PTI government that its days were numbered. They described it a reaction to the government’s anti-people policy and its so-called narrative. They said that PTI had no right to remain in government after the victory of Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The participants of the rally asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to accept his failure and go home with honour. They also distributed sweets on the occasion.

ARREST: The district administration here on Thursday arrested 10 flour dealers for violating the official price list.

The dealers were detained during a crackdown launched a day after scores of people staged a protest against the unavailability of subsidised flour in their areas.

A statement issued by the deputy commissioner said that several teams were tasked to find out causes of unavailability of subsidised flour in the region. The teams observed that irregularities, black marketing and violation of official price list by the flour dealers were the main causes of the artificial shortage of flour.

It said that at least 10 dealers were arrested for violation of official price list, selling subsidised flour in black market and other irregularities. The arrested dealers were sent to prison.

The administration has also replaced a number of dealers for committing irregularities in distribution of subsidised flour.
