PESHAWAR: A policeman was killed when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on a rider squad near Faisal Colony on GT Road here on Thursday evening.

A police spokesperson said that the incident took place in the limits of Gulbahar police station when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on a rider squad, killing the constable Niaz Mohammad on the spot.

The cop’s body was shifted to hospital for an autopsy, while police were investigating the incident.

Separately, city police arrested a suspect for making a minor crystal meth addict and sexually assaulting him.

An official of Paharipura police station told Dawn that they had arrested the suspect identified as Izzat Khan.

The family of the child had submitted a complaint with the Paharipura police, stating that the suspect, a driver, would take him to his lodging and sexually assaulting him after drugging him with crystal meth.
