LAHORE, Oct 13: Lahore Ravi’s pacemen Jamshed Ahmed and Rohail Younis shared nine wickets between them as Abbottabad made 212 on the opening day of the three-day Inter-region Under-19 National Cricket Championship match at the Lahore Country Club in Muridke on Thursday.

Jamshed picked up five for 62 and Rohail four for 26 after the visitors were invited to bat first by Lahore Ravi captain Abid Ali.

In fact, Abbottabad might have been in dire straits if Mudassar Ibrahim (62, four fours), Qazi Adnanul Haq (48, five fours) and captain Riaz Kail (54, eight fours) had not batted responsibility.

At one stage, they were in tatters at 36 for six but Riaz and Mudassar added 67 before Mudassar was involved in the biggest partnership of the innings by putting on 103 for the eighth-wicket with Adnan.

By close of play, Lahore Ravi were 37 without loss.

Half-centuries by Arsalan Anwar, Ali Khan and Nayyar Abbas guided Sialkot to 291 against Rawalpindi at the Saga Ground in Sialkot.

Usman hit 66, which was laced with 11 fours. Opener Ali Khan scored 62 with 10 fours while Nayyar made 61 with the aid of seven fours.

Only 40 overs of play was possible in the fixture between Faisalabad and Multan at the Bohranwali Ground in Faisalabad with the hosts making 112 for four.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Karachi: Karachi Harbour were sitting pretty after bowling out hosts Hyderabad for a measly 114 in their first innings at Niaz Stadium.

In reply, Karachi Harbour had reached 106 for three with opener Mohammad Fahim (35) and Hassan Raza (36) sharing an unbroken fourth-wicket stand worth 52 so far.

Earlier, Hyderabad batsmen were unsettled by speedster Zaheer Abbas and Shakaib Ahmed. Zaheer, a right-arm medium-pacer unlike his illustrious namesake who was regarded one of the finest batsmen of his time, captured four for 27 in 15 overs. Shakaib took two for six in six overs while off-spinner Shahmir Khattak chipped in with two for 19.

Only opener Sharjeel Khan stood out for Hyderabad with a defiant 57 that included 10 boundaries.

Karachi Urban, meanwhile, had a tough day against Peshawar as the home side reached 278 after winning the toss. Shahzad Khan struck nine fours in scoring 62.

Off-spinner Misbah Khan followed up his six wickets in the one-day tie on Tuesday with five for 74 in 30.1 overs while leg-spinner Abdul Saad claimed three for 47.

The visitors ended the day at 37 for one.

Islamabad dominated Quetta in their game at Mirpur Cricket Stadium as they made 157 for five after Quetta were bowled out for 117.
