NAB seeks details of Sindh police officials’ bank accounts

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sought from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) details of bank accounts of 150 police officers of Sindh police, mainly SHOs, it emerged on Saturday.

Sources told Dawn that NAB had written a letter titled ‘request for general search of bank accounts-inquiry against Sindh police officers and others’ to the SBP on Feb 25.

The anti-graft body has asked the central bank to collect details from the financial institutions as well as foreign banks about these police officers.

NAB has requested the SBP to obtain information of any accounts, deposit or lockers maintained by the police officers at present or in the past since 1985, according to the sources familiar with the development.

Details of any banking facility allowed to the police officers or to his/her business concern or third person/firm, sale, purchase or remittance of foreign currency have also been sought from the central bank.
