KOHAT: The tehsil municipal administration, the Pesco and Rescue 1122 have started relocating dozens of decades-old electricity poles from the main bazaar to ensure smooth traffic flow through the urban centre.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday, tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Shoeb said the TMA had also approved a car parking at the demolished Shabistan cinema in the old bus stand area with a view to increasing its income and facilitating the people.

Pesco SDO Wajidullah Khan said electricity poles had occupied 10 to 12 feet of the road. He said thick insulated cables would be laid on the rooftops of the shops to ensure safety of people.

QUALITY FOOD ITEMS: The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the business community to cooperate with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority for providing unadulterated food items to people.

This was stated by KCCI president Asad Javed, vice-president Mohammad Nauman and former president Haji Rasheed Paracha while speaking at a ceremony to give awards to the officials of the food authority on Sunday.

They said the food authority had kept a strict check on adulteration of milk. They said the authority’s continuing crackdown on adulterators had led to improvement in quality of food items. The food authority’s deputy directors Kamran Yousufzai, Mohammad Salman, food officer Rizwan Wazir and their team members got the awards.

Meanwhile, deputy director Mohammad Salman during a raid on a shop in the main bazaar seized expired ghee tins.
