KOHAT: The Kohat police arrested a commander of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan carrying Rs2 million head money during a raid here on Monday.
He was involved in killings, kidnappings, and targeting security forces with IED explosions.
Addressing a press conference at his office, district police officer Sohail Khalid said the police acting on information conducted a raid in Teen Talab area of Mirkheli, a mountainous terrain, and arrested Amir Jalal alias Colonel. The elite force personnel also aided the police during the action.
Mr Khalid said Amir Jalal ran a training camp in Ghurzandi area of Lachi tehsil which was dismantled by the security forces during an operation, in which his many colleagues were also killed, but he had managed to escape. He said the outlaw had been hiding for last two decades.
Mr Khalid said the terrorist had killed and kidnapped many people and used to extort money from businessmen and rich people.
The DPO said he had also abducted a doctor working with the Hungarian exploration MOL company, and during an exchange of fire, he had also killed five guards of the company.
He said the terrorist was wanted by different police stations of Kohat region.
