LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Thursday arrested the operational manager of the Candidate Testing Service (CTS) in Punjab Police recruitment scam in Chiniot.
According to an ACE spokesperson, the matter of tampering with the recruitment test for various posts of constables, lady constables, drivers and computer operator has been referred to ACE Punjab on the direction of the court by Chiniot police after it registered a case against four candidates who passed the test through fraudulent means.
It said CTS operational manager Amjad Javed had been arrested and the ACE got his three-day physical remand for interrogation.
“During the investigation suspect Amjad Javed revealed that he was operating through his front man Asghar from Lalian tehsil who is an official of the Meteorology Department. Javed is an overall in-charge of recruitment through CTS in police across Punjab. Paper setting, paper marking, dispatching and result compilation is his responsibility.
The suspect confessed that they had charged between Rs300,000 and Rs500,000 against one vacancy from 50 candidates in Chiniot alone. Candidates, who had paid money, would leave the answer sheet without attempting any question. Such candidates re-attempt the paper after a couple of days at the place arranged by the suspect,” the ACE spokesperson said.
ACE Director General Gohar Nafees said the scam put a big question mark on the credibility of recruitment agencies.
