LAHORE: Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the trio of Maryam Nawaz, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman is conspiring to make the Senate chairman election controversial.

In a statement here on Thursday, she said those pointing fingers at the institutions should be ashamed of their act and added that the “corrupt cabal” that had won a Senate seat through horse-trading should refrain from leveling allegations at others.

The institutions were pride of the nation and the government won’t allow anyone to disrespect them, she added.

She said it was known modus operandi of Maryam and her “bondmaids” to resort to cheap political tactics, adding that they should realise that the misdeeds of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would not be forgotten.

The SACM said the opposition was eying Punjab after failure in the centre, while Bilawal had already run away from the province after boasting about the no confidence move against the prime minister. Ms Awan further said the government’s allies were intact and Chief Minister Buzdar enjoyed the trust of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
