DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Lightning killed a youngster as heavy rain coupled with hailstorm and winds lashed the

Dera Ismail Khan city and its suburbs causing severe damage to standing crops.

The youngster identified as Bilal was killed due to lightning in Omarkhail Kacha area of Kiri Khaisor.

Due to heavy rain several feeders in the main grid were tripped and power supply was suspended to several areas for hours on Friday.

The downpour also caused floods inundating low-lying areas in the urban and rural areas

A house was also damaged due to lightning in Kacha area on the banks of the Indus River.

The rain and hailstorm damaged standing crops of gram and wheat in Kulachi, Paharipur, Kiri Khaisor and Gilutti.

The weather turned cold due to rain.

Also, a 19-year-old youth was killed and another injured when a rickshaw collided with a passenger bus near Mandhraan Kalan area.

According to an official of Rescue 1122, Suleiman of Jabbarwala died on the spot while another passenger, Zubair Wazir, also of Jabbarwala, sustained injuries.

Both the injured and the deceased were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. Later, the body was handed over to family members.

The Saddar police registered a case and started further investigations.
