An accountability court in Lahore has issued new directives in light of rising coronavirus cases. The notification stated that the resurgence of Covid-19 requires taking more protective measures in court rooms and court premises.

"Some high profile cases are being heard and tried. It has been noticed with great concern that a good number of people come to gather along with the accused persons in the court premises as well as court rooms.

"Therefore, it is directed that only accused persons, learned defence counsel/associates, prosecutors and their staff, limited media people are allowed to remain present in the court room during the proceedings of such cases," the order said.

The Lahore CCPO was told to take the necessary measures in this regard.
