LAKKI MARWAT: A man allegedly killed his wife and son over a petty dispute in Najiaabad locality on the outskirts of Lakki city on Saturday.

Police said that Akhto Jan, a resident of South Waziristan tribal district, killed his wife Bakhtawar Bibi and son Shah Mehmood and managed to escape. They said that the killer had exchanged harsh words with his wife a few days ago.

Police said that the family was staying in Najiaabad locality. Complainant Abdullah, 11, told police that he and his brother Waseem Khan were present in the house when their father Akhto Jan armed with a pistol came there and opened fire on their mother.

He said that their father also opened fire on Shah Mehmood when he tried to stop him. He said that his mother and brother died instantly.

Police said that the bodies were shifted to government city hospital for autopsy. They said that they registered a case against the man and started investigation.

MEETING: Bannu Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi has asked the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) to augment the administration’s efforts for making the district clean and beautiful.

Addressing the maiden meeting of board of directors of WSSC at his office the other day, he said the district had secured first position in the Clean and Green Cities Index Awards and that the achievement had been acknowledged by the provincial and federal governments.

The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to election of chairman of the board of governors and constitution of committees for execution of different tasks and decided that names in this regard would be finalised in the next meeting.
