Milk price hike

Published March 14, 2021

DAIRY farmers have increased the price of milk by Rs10 without the approval of the authorities. Milk is being sold openly at an increased rate. And it is surprising to see that those who were selling milk at Rs110 per litre earlier are now selling it at Rs120, and those who were already selling it at Rs120 have now increased it to Rs130.

This is unfair and someone must intervene as the common man cannot buy something as basic as milk at higher prices amid an all-time high inflation.

Moreover, the less said about the quality of the milk, the better. Unless one visits a farm and stands witness to the milking process, it cannot be said with certainty that the milk the people buy from shops is 100 per cent pure.

The government needs to take action against dairy farmers who have increased the rates without its approval and also ensure that milk is not adulterated.
